Lung cancer screening
A one-stop screening service designed to detect early-stage lung cancer before symptoms begin, for greater peace of mind.
Why choose our lung cancer screening?
If you currently smoke or have done so in the past, you might be worried about your risk of developing lung cancer – even if you don’t have any symptoms.
Smoking is the single biggest cause of lung cancer worldwide, and by the time symptoms show, it’s often harder to treat successfully. That’s why it’s important to get checked out early if you’re at a higher risk of developing cancer.
Our private lung cancer screening programme in London is designed to detect early-stage lung cancer, before any symptoms begin. As part of our broader private cancer screening services, we provide tailored assessment based on your risk factors. Based on your results, we can offer preventative care plans to help reduce your risk, or arrange your treatment at our state-of-the-art cancer centre.
When you choose us for your lung cancer screening, you’ll benefit from:
- Competitive pricing with no hidden costs – Our package includes all your consultations and tests, so you don’t have to worry about paying for any unexpected add-ons.
- Convenient one-stop clinic – For a smoother experience, your consultation and CT scan will be carried out on the same day at our west London hospital.
- Peace of mind – With next-day appointments available, you’ll receive either the all-clear or a diagnosis and care plan faster, helping put your mind at ease.
- Opinions from multiple experts – If required, your case and test results will be reviewed at a multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting, so that specialists across respiratory medicine, cancer, and more can input into your care.
- World-class onward care – In the event of a diagnosis, you’ll have the option of being fast-tracked into our state-of-the-art cancer centre, home to advanced treatments and the UK’s leading specialists.

Who should have a lung cancer screening?
This private lung cancer screening service is intended for people at risk of developing lung cancer, who don’t have any symptoms. You're at risk if you smoke heavily, or have done so in the past, and are over 55.
If you already have symptoms, you aren’t suitable for this private cancer screening – but our team will be happy to book you in for a general respiratory consultation instead.
If you’re unsure about your eligibility, please contact our team who will be able to advise further.
What happens during a lung cancer screening?
During a lung cancer screening at Garrick Hospital, you'll attend a one-stop clinic where both your consultation and low-dose CT scan are conducted on the same day.
The scan is quick and painless, taking only a couple of minutes, and involves lying still on a table as it passes through the scanner. The scan is low-dose to keep it as safe for you as possible. No special preparation is needed, and you can resume normal activities immediately after.
Your results are typically available the next day, providing either reassurance or, if necessary, a prompt care plan developed by our team. This streamlined process ensures early detection and peace of mind.
Getting your results
At Garrick Hospital, your lung cancer screening results are typically available the next day.
If no concerns are identified, you'll receive reassurance and guidance on maintaining your lung health. Should any abnormalities be detected, your case will be reviewed by our multidisciplinary team, comprising specialists in respiratory medicine, oncology, radiology and surgery.
This collaborative approach ensures a personalised care plan is promptly developed, and if necessary, you'll be fast-tracked into our state-of-the-art Integrated Cancer Campus for further evaluation or treatment. Our streamlined process is designed to provide clarity and peace of mind at every step.
How to reduce risk of getting lung cancer
Reducing your risk of lung cancer starts with quitting smoking – the single most effective step you can take. Even long-term smokers benefit from stopping – by preventing further damage and by making any treatment that’s needed more likely to be successful.
Reducing your risk of developing an advanced lung cancer starts with lung cancer screening. By knowing your risk, a personalised screening schedule will be recommended to catch any potential problems early to allow you curative treatment.
